What is SFP module?
SFP (Small Form-factor Pluggable) is a transceiver that allows network devices to be interconnected via optical or metallic interfaces. It is inserted into the SFP slot of the device (e.g. OLT, switch, router).
What is the difference between SFP and SFP+?
SFP supports speeds up to 1 Gbps, while SFP+ is designed for 10 Gbps connections. SFP+ slots are often backward compatible with SFP modules, but the reverse is not true.
How do I know which module is compatible with my device?
We recommend that you refer to the manufacturer's documentation or use our consultation – we have experience with compatibility with Huawei, MikroTik, Cisco, VSOL and others.
What is BIDI SFP?
BIDI (bi-directional) SFP modules allow bidirectional communication over one fiber – they use different wavelengths for transmitting and receiving. It will save half of the optical infrastructure.
Are there SFP modules for XGS-PON?
Yes – we offer both XGS-PON OLT SFP and XGS-PON ONT SFP modules. These transceivers allow you to deploy PON technology even in standard switches with SFP support.
What distance can SFP modules handle?
It depends on the type – conventional modules can handle 10 to 20 km, but there are also variants with a range of 40, 80 or 120 km. The type of fiber and the attenuation of the route are important.
Do your modules support DOM (Digital Optical Monitoring)?
Most of our DOM modules support – they monitor temperature, performance and signal quality directly in the device's web interface.
What connector do SFP modules use?
The most common LC connector for singlemode and multimode fibers. Some metallic variants have an RJ-45 connector.
Can I use CWDM or DWDM modules in a normal network?
Yes, if you have corresponding CWDM/DWDM passive multiplexers and plan to transmit multiple channels on one fiber. It is especially suitable for backbone routes or MDUs.
